Monitor Audio has conceived the ASB-2 as the ultimate audio hub for the home. It can operate as a high quality soundbar beneath a TV monitor from rack or wall positions, but offers so much more than the conventional amalgam of left, centre, right speakers. Apple AirPlay®, DLNA® and UPnP enabled, the ASB-2 will deliver uncompressed music from files stored on PC or Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, Android or Windows phone, or streamed from Internet services. In addition to iTunes and DLNA compatible Apps, friends can connect and play directly to the ASB-2 without network access via Airstream Direct.

Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium is a material originally developed by the aerospace industry for jet engine components. Its properties are ideal for loudspeaker cones being extremely rigid, yet light enough to yield high overall efficiency. In manufacture, aluminium/magnesium alloy undergoes a three-stage stress-relieving process to remove surface deformation and molecular weakness. Once formed, the alloy cone is subjected to a high temperature anodic coating process in which a layer of pure ceramic alumina is depleted onto its surfaces to a depth of 50 microns, producing a completely rigid sandwich of alloy and heat-dissipating ceramic material.

Conventional cones are liable to flex or twist in operation, producing a significant level of audible distortion. C-CAM cones have a much higher resistance to bending stress and therefore exhibit much greater fidelity over their entire operating range. C-CAM tweeters and woofers share an audible consistency producing a smooth transition of frequencies and a sense of realism and cohesion in the soundstage.

In order to liberate all of the music on your iPod/iPhone, i-deck takes the digital stream from your iPod/iPhone to its own high quality 28/56 bit dual precision Digital-Analoge converter (DAC). By keeping data in the digital domain until the last seconds of processing, our engineers have succeeded in preserving the essence of the original digital master.

Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) allows any third party DLNA app for iOS, Android and Windows Mobile to be used to stream music and movies to a DLNA enabled device. If you have a router in your home then you have a network and can use DLNA products on it, and if you have wi-fi then you can do it all wirelessly too.

Because positioning of a speaker is so important in determining the sound that you hear, we have integrated a Digital Signal Processor into the i-decks which automatically adjusts the output based on the environment in which the i-deck has been placed. This intuitive process takes place automatically each time you power up the i-deck at the mains so you always hear the best possible sound, no matter what space restrictions you are working with.

The gold dome tweeter is formed from a ceramic-coated aluminium/magnesium alloy, gold anodised to a specific thickness for ideal stiffness and damping characteristics. Its new profile and surround geometry have been developed using advanced modelling tools, to provide the optimum qualities for accurate sound reproduction. The new design moves the first order of breakup to beyond 35kHz, producing a linear response way beyond audibility, which matches the wide frequency bandwidth available from HD music and cinema sound formats.

The gold dome is thinner, lighter, more rigid and therefore more efficient than domes made from other materials which are prone to distortion in the audio band.

Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is a set of networking protocols that permits networked devices and mobile devices to seamlessly discover each other's presence on the network.
