I have purchased many KitchenAid products, and have been very happy with all of them, but then I purchased this one. BIGGEST.MISTAKE.EVER. This is the worst coffee maker I have ever owned. (I am 60 so I have owned a few!) I have spent less on other units and they have lasted for years. This one, less than 3 months and it wasn't just forking over 20-25$ for a cheap coffee maker! First: unless the carafe is in just the right spot, and I mean right spot, the water overflows out of the filter basket and goes everywhere, which also means coffee grounds in the coffee for what does flow into the carafe. Second: It constantly stops in the middle of a brewing cycle, so I have to shut the machine off for about a minute or so, and push the brew cycle again. Usually then, it will finish out the cycle, but it is kind of frustrating to be doing something, come back to get a cup of coffee and find out that the brew cycle shut off.

Received KA 12 Cup Coffee Maker from a previous owner. I tried it out that evening, and I can say I haven't tasted a better pot of coffee. I looked forward for the following morning to make another pot. The unit I have is black and steel look. Very attractive in the kitchen. KitchenAid lives up to its reputation.

This coffee maker works excellent in every aspect except that it will not drain the basket fast enough. Whether using the metal filter or a paper filter, it overflows when using the regular brew mode. The only way to keep grounds out of your coffee is to brew in bold mode (slower).
