We bought the downdraft and cooktop for our new home. Tho we purchased it 2 years ago we only moved in 9 months ago. The fan is very noisy unless it's set on low, but does not remove odors on low. The worst is that the motor totally died, in just 9 months. And, we were told they're on indefinite backorder. >$1500 later, I can't cook in my new kitchen.
One of the better options out there

I'm writing this review from a contractor's perspective, and I recently completed install of this unit for clients of mine. The location is in their kitchen island. They're pleased with the final product, and it functions well. They originally purchased a different brand downdraft, which would have required cutting out a significant portion of cabinetry, and although this model was double the price, we were able to install it within the 36'' drawer base cabinet without losing any functionality of drawers. Some points to be aware of: - The blower motor is not included and must be purchased separately. -There are many ways to run ducting(Down, side, rear, recirculating) but the Bosch duct fittings are proprietary and very expensive for simple sheet metal. - Many add-ons are available to facilitate install in virtually any configuration. (wiring harness extensions, for example) My only major gripe, which cost me and my electrician 4 extra man hours, is that the blower motor flow direction was labeled backwards. We completed the installation, only to discover that the unit was blowing air out of it instead of exhausting it. Had to disassemble and reassemble the entire ducting and wiring, reverse the motor assembly, and reinstall. All in all, this is still a good, albeit expensive downdraft option, especially considering the alternatives.
Looks good but noisy

This unit is very good looking. I bought the external blower to install on the other side of my house's brick wall and the downdraft is really noisy, even on low. If something can be done to change that please tell me
