I have had a KA burr grinder (this model) for more than ten years. Comparing it to much pricier, “professional” grinders, the KA is very comparable. The only reason I’m giving it four stars, instead of five, is that it has only one click stop setting between each full setting on the grind knob. Sometimes, depending on the beans, the mid setting is just a bit too coarse or fine and I need to hold the knob in an in-between position. Kitchen Aid could really improve this product by having three click stops between each full (numbered) stop. Then, I think it could compete with any of the “best” out there.
2nd one works fine

Good heavy duty grinder seems well built. On my first one, the knob shook back and forth while it was griding, so I took a video and sent it in to Kitchen Aid. After sending me the incorrect parts several times, they finally just replaced it and the 2nd one is much better, the knob does not shake like the first one did.

Buying this product is no cheap venture. . .however, it's clearly a grinder that will last many years and be asthetically pleasing in the process ;-). The only thing I miss is the automatic measurement shut off feature. My husband is good at eye-balling measurements but not so much my thing.
Good BUT no replacement parts?

I’ve had this grinder for a few years now and it worked well while it lasted. Yes it is noisy, yes there is still static cling and I keep a cordless vacuum next to it to clean up the coffee that spills all around it. It is built like a mixer and certainly just about as heavy. But just as others have mentioned, the PLATIC gears failed and can not be replaced, even though it is terribly simple to take the machine apart. Since it failed, I’ve been using the grain mill attachment on my mixer on the finest setting and frankly it works fine. I’m not a real coffee snob but I do roast my own coffee. I can’t tell if the aluminum of he grain mill changes anything to the taste. I will not be buying a new grinder from kitchen aid. I might try a different maker.
